This week you were introduced to the topic of elements and how they comprise substances. For extra credit this week, look at your periodic table and create completely fresh (can't use the ones on the sheet I gave you) puns. Post three at a time. Feel free to comment on the strength of what others post, but be nice!
I imagine that in the early days you would need to chase down a turkey to get your dinner. Luckily today we can just go to the store because someone else did the chasing for us. In class you learned a song that relates to Newton's Laws. Look up the three laws and explain how those laws are exhibited when someone chases a turkey. I know this is more labor intensive than most blog postings so this one will be worth double points!
Last week and this one we're taking about the role of density in our world, and our universe! We mentioned density in the formation and structure of solar systems, galaxies, and even the expansion of the universe. What are some other areas of our world/universe that we can see the affects or structure of density?
Some people seem to have done a good job of making both their density column and their calculations, but the column and calcs didn't match!!! How can that be? Where could they have gone wrong on the density calculations? How could the column turn out differently than what they calculated?
We've talked about science as a process and you've lived it for the last few weeks as your designed and conducted your food fight lab. Looking back on the nature of science, do you think the science we conducted was good? ...or do you think it could be improved? Using your notes and your brain tell me what you think.
No, this is not a reference to people's butts. This comment was used in a lecture to help you remember the concept of density. How does it connect to what we were talking about?
Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence...
This is a statement I made during my last lecture on the nature of science. Although it wasn't our main topic it is interesting and important in it's own right. Tell me what you understand this to mean. |
This blog is for you...Feel free to share some curious train of thought you have, as well as share your thoughts on others. Archives
